About Outreach America...

Purpose Statement: To reach this generation of young people with the truth of Jesus Christ, and through them restore this nation to its Biblical heritage.

Outreach America was founded in 1984 in Greensboro, North Carolina. Since that time more than a million young people across this nation and on three continents have been challenged with the message of Jesus Christ and the adventure of following Him.

Outreach America operates under, what is called, The 5 C’s of Ministry. These five C’s make up the ministry arena of Outreach America. They are as follows:

(1) CAMPS
The heart of Outreach America is found in its camp and retreat programs. There is no greater venue for reaching young people with the message of Jesus Christ than through camps and retreats. Statistics show that over 80% of born-again students, under the age of twenty, made that decision at a camp. It is one of the most effective methods of evangelizing the youth of this nation. Outreach America runs a unique camp program. From all-sports camps, to the popular Paintball Extreme, every camp places a special emphasis on God’s inerrant Word, as well as, a unique scripture memory program for kids. On average, campers will memorize 60-80 verses in a week of camp.

(2) CAMPUS
The passion of Outreach America begins on the high school and college campuses of this nation. Outreach America remains one of the few organizations that still carries a message into the public school arena. On college campuses, Outreach America partners with existing campus ministries to share the message of Christ in various venues from university to university.

(3) CONFERENCES
Discipleship is the primary focus of Outreach America. At the conferences, Christian student-leaders are invited in from throughout the country for intense training in discipleship and leadership. To date, over 60% of the students that have been involved in the conference training are now in some type of full-time Christian ministry.

(4) CHURCHES
Outreach America is inter-denominational and has led youth revivals and seminars, in churches from the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, Turkey, and across this country, from Florida to Alaska.

(5) CRUSADES
City-wide and area-wide crusades are an important method for sharing the Gospel to the multitudes in a specific region. These crusades are normally done in concert with several local churches and the emphasis is on the youth. The crusades are also coupled with high school assembly programs, which attracts the youth from every section of the region.

About The Founder...

Gary Newell has always been a competitor. He played wide receiver for Coach Pat Dye on East Carolina University's championship football team. In 1978 he was a free agent with the Los Angeles Rams. His diminutive size and damaged knees ended his NFL hopes, so Gary used coaching as an avenue to share his experience with young athletes. One of the athletes he coached was Michael Jordan. However, not all athletes had the discipline and dream of Michael, and Gary spent much of his time helping young people handle the issues and struggles of life. He saw more and more young lives turn to drugs and alcohol for solutions. Gary recognized a tremendous need for someone to take a stand and be a positive role model in today's society. Someone needed to offer sound solutions for a confused generation, so Gary decided to take his competitive spirit from the locker room to the classroom.

Today Gary is involved in a much more important game...the game of life. As founder and president of Outreach America, Inc, he travels across the country teaching high school and college sudents how to win in life through a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. From the Virgin Islands to Alaska, Gary has spoken to hundreds of thousands of young people. His humorous look at life is honest, dynamic, and gets results.

Gary Newell has the unique ability to relate with the students at their individual level in life. He combines comedy and sleight of hand tricks to illustrate life's most important principles. His assembly programs are recognized nationally for their educational value. From selfimage, to goal-setting, to US history, to substance abuse, Gary Newell wraps together one of the most effective and entertaining learning experiences in the country.

From the rural classroom to the Presidential Yacht, Gary has shared his message of winning in life. He has frequented radio and television talk shows, served on President Ronald Reagan's "Task Force," serves on the Central Carolina Board of Directors for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes, and is a former recipient of the Outstanding Young Men in America Award.

The presentation which you made to the students in those schools will affirm for them their own worth as human beings, and should show positive results in their lives. . As an attorney, I am aware of the limitations which public schools face in presentations which are made to their students. I felt that your message was well within appropriate guidelines, and should present no problems to even the most sensitive school administrator."
