The conviction of Outreach America is found in its Campus Ministry. Students today have distorted beliefs about God and the Bible. It is evidenced even among good Christian kids from Christian homes. Barna research reveals that among this group of teens, 80% believe God created the universe, and 84% believe God is personally involved in the lives of people. Yet, the disturbing news is that in this same group of Christian kids, 63% also believe that all religions pray to the same God, even though they use different names for their god. Another 58% believe that all religious faiths teach equally valid truth. While 87% of these kids will tell you that Jesus was real and 78% believe he was born of a virgin, still 46% believe Jesus committed sins, and 51% say he died but did not rise from the dead. This generation of youth has redefined Christianity according to their culture, not according to truth. It does matter what our students believe about God and His Word.
Outreach America has ministered on more than 500 high school and college campuses across this nation. The campus message is developed around three specific areas: (1) apologetics; a defense of the faith. This equips the students to know "why" they believe. Modern Christendom has led many to belief but few to convictions. It is important to know what you believe, but convictions are birthed when you know why you believe; (2) sex and dating; an honest, real look at relationships. This message hits hard. It exposes the distorted view of "love" in today's culture. It is also the most requested session by college students; and (3) America's heritage; a lesson in the true history of this great nation. Students are exposed to the truth about our founding fathers, our Biblical heritage, and God's providence in establishing this "one nation, under God."
Outreach America continues to pioneer, and set new paradigms in Campus Ministry with the launching of Veritas Sports Academy, a radical, "never been done before" approach to reaching a lost generation with the message of Christ through the world of athletics.
